3 phases that help to manage change
Change Management:
Why it Matters
Change management supports employees, managers, stakeholders with any implementation.
What is Change Management?
Change Management is the discipline that guides how weprepare, equip and support individuals to successfully adoptchange in order to drive organizational success and outcomes. With companies continuously changing to adapt to market growth, fix inefficiencies, and technology upgrades, support with change during these times is extremely important.
Change Management provides a structured approach to digital transformation that empowers leaders and employees to feel supported and heard during the implementation process.
Change Management focuses on, and introduces, institutional changes in three phases so that a Project Manager or Management can work through changes gradually. The methodology includes research-based assessments to support each phase, and guidance to complete each step most effectively.
- 1
Preparing for work
We probe our clients to think about questions such as "what is the nature and scope of this specific change?" and "what is the organizational context?"
These elements are critical to defining how much change management a specific project will need and how we ensure that the organization is building on their capabilities. Each strategy and plan is tailored to the needs of both the project and the organization.
- 2
Managing Change
The second phase focuses on creating plans that integrate with the overall project plan. The plans helps articulate the steps in empowering and supporting your company’s people through their journey.
There are a minimum of five plans that help support individuals moving through change, which include: Communication Plan, Sponsor Roadmap, Training Plan, Coaching Plan and Resistance Management Plan.
- 3
Reinforcing Change
The third phase helps you create specific action plans to ensure the change in your company is sustained. Plans to recognize success, ensure alignment to success metrics and measure the rate of adoption, utilization, and proficiency of the new way of working are part of this phase and corrective action if success has not been achieved.
How does it work during a Dynamics 365 implementation?
When working on client project's, Change Management begins within the Discovery phase of a project. In this phase, we provide 2 key deliverables that are Change Management specific: Success Metrics Workshops and a High-Level Change Management strategy.
The Success Metrics Workshop is a facilitated session that helps all key stakeholders articulate how the project's success can be expressed in measurable business outcomes and KPI’s.
The value of this is to ensure that the project has a clear definition of the end results to be targeted and the benefits that arecritical to deliver.
During the High-Level Change Management Strategy, Change Managers build out an extensive document that captures the customers' readiness and the impact of the change. We work closely with our clients to conduct a variety of assessments and gather insights which in turn, become recommendations and guidance on how to manage the specific change within the organization.
Beyond our 2 key deliverables, we support our customers through workshops that focus on an organization’s gap in their internal change process. We identify areas of opportunity that help build change competency or support the realization of benefits. The topics for these types of workshops are all customized to the needs within the organization and are focused on supporting people within their change journey.
Lastly, we offer client coaching, where we can work with Executive Sponsors and Middle Managers on how to build their sponsorship skills, manage resistance, create strategic alignment, and apply best practices. These coaching sessions help on a more individual level allowing for support to be targeted to ensure that the individual is addressing their own development gaps.
