About the NetHope Global Summit
The NetHope Global Summit 2024, taking place both in-person from October 21-24 in the Washington, D.C. metro area and virtually on October 28-29, is the largest and most significant gathering of the global non-profit and technology sectors. This event serves as a dynamic platform where innovative solutions are crafted, and strategic partnerships are forged, making it a must-attend for leaders across various sectors.

One of the key highlights of our participation in the NetHope Global Summit 2024 is an impactful virtual panel discussion presented with Children International and Microsoft that will delve into the intersection of technology and non-profit missions. Our session, titled "Creating a Future-Ready Non-Profit: Insights from Children International’s Digital Transformation," is scheduled for October 28, 2024, from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM ET.
Since its founding in 1936, Children International has been at the forefront of empowering over 1 million children worldwide to break free from the cycle of poverty. Their programs in health equity, education, life skills, employment, and digital skills training have been instrumental in this mission. However, the organization recognized the need to modernize their methodologies to better support their mission and overcome the challenges posed by siloed systems and technical debt. Join us for an inspiring panel discussion on how Children International is leveraging technology to empower change, optimize their mission-driven work, and drive digital skills development.
This panel brings together Tim Bachta, Vice President of Global Information Technology at Children International, Erin McHugh Saif, Non-Profit Industry Director on the Microsoft Tech for Social Impact team, and Kostas Tzigizis, Non-Profit Practice Lead at HSO in the United States. It will be moderated by Pëtra Eimiller, Sr. Marketing Manager, Non-Profit at HSO. Tim, Erin, and Kostas will share their insights on Children International’s digital transformation journey, highlighting the pivotal role of technology in enhancing operational efficiency, reducing technical debt, and improving program delivery. The conversation will underscore the significance of collaborative partnerships in tackling the challenges of technology modernization.

Meet the Panelists
Known as “The Connector”, Tim has a reputation for working with business partners to create innovative IT solutions, bringing the expertise and understanding of a “business technologist” to Children International. An Army veteran with decades of experience in application development, he held executive leadership positions at private sector companies, including NASB. At Children International, Tim focuses on how technology can be used to help break the cycle of poverty on a global scale. He looks for ways the organization can empower all its beneficiaries to leverage technology in ways that can assist them in elevating themselves and those around them. “Here at CI, we’re not just providing a bandage; we’re trying to break that cycle of poverty. We are empowering the children, youth and families we serve to help themselves and their communities. They have the opportunity to be that multiplier of change in their own lives, their family’s lives and in their community.”
Erin joined Microsoft five years ago to build our TSI engineering, product, and user experience design organization, oversaw and led 8 releases of the Common Data Model and Nonprofit Accelerator, and led 18 releases of Fundraising and Engagement. She was awarded the Circle of Excellence Platinum Club in 2021 for her contributions and her teams' impact in the non-profit industry. She worked with TSI and Industry thought leaders in the summer of 2018 to build the Common Data Model for Nonprofits. Erin has spent 23 years as a product and engineering leader at TIBCO Spotfire, leading SaaS data visualization, as well as at Salesforce, roundCorner, Blackbaud, and Target Analytics. She is a proud member of Chief, the largest network of senior women executives supporting other women in their leadership journeys.
As Practice Lead, Kostas is responsible for the team working with non-profits to achieve organizational goals through the use of technology. His 20+ years of experience and strong technical background in consulting, application development, system implementation, and technical architecture & design of complex systems informs his work with these organizations to creatively and cost-effectively leverage technology to advance their mission. Kostas holds an MS in Management Information Systems from Boston University and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University.
