HSO's delivery framework
Our delivery framework is based on Scrum, part of the Agile Methodology, the most widely accepted software development approach. Work is delivered in “sprints,” completing a predetermined set of deliverables after each sprint, making it easier to identify gaps in requirements, which helps ensure an on-time, on-budget delivery of the project. You also get the opportunity to see the progress of the project as it moves along.
Our approach involves the following sprint "ceremonies":
The team completes the review the stories targeted for the upcoming sprint, the sprint capacity, story assignments and commits to the stories to be delivered during the sprint (Once per sprint, 1-2 hours)
Team members provide updates and alert the team to potential challenges and blockers. What I did yesterday, what am I doing today, what impedes my progress. (Daily, 15 mins)
Team refines the backlog including adding, updating, removing items, splitting items, prioritizing items, updating acceptance criteria, educating the team on items, playing planning poker, etc. (1 to 2 times per week, 1-2 hours)
Review the commitments that were made at Sprint Planning, summarize the results, and demo the completed work (Once per sprint, 1-2 hours)
Team reviews bugs, severity, priority, assignments, etc. (as needed based on size of bug list and stage of the project)
Reflect on how the team is doing and look for ways to improve. What should we continue doing? What should we stop doing? What should be start doing? (Once per sprint, 1 hour)
