Culture at HSO

HSO has grown rapidly in recent years. This brings change, including in the company culture. To preserve the core of the old culture and embrace new values, a core group has developed a culture compass.

Two members of the core group, Behnud and Otto, share their insights.

“It is important to be honest and sincere, but also to have fun.”

Our Culture compass

This compass includes values such as:

Passion to Perform (Drive),

We Engage as Partners (Simply Reliable),

Development Runs in Our DNA (Growth Mindset)

Together We Are at Our Best (Community).

The compass provides directions for what HSO stands for and how we interact with each other, both internally and externally with our customers and partners.

Close community

Behnud Aliakbari has been working at HSO as a D365 consultant for Finance & Operations since March 2020 and has been involved in the culture group from the beginning.

How do you experience the culture at HSO? "What has struck me most is the flexibility of working and the accessibility. It is an environment where everyone, up to the highest management, walks into each other's offices. We want to achieve the best result together, and we do that as a close-knit community where we keep each other sharp."

What makes HSO unique in your opinion? "The entrepreneurial spirit is really typical of HSO. Here, nothing is handed to you on a silver platter; you have to seize opportunities yourself and stand your ground. That DNA of entrepreneurship and the passion to perform has always been there and will always be there."

How do you embody the core values? "By truly being a people person. I love working together and ensure that we get the best out of our work as a team. It is important to be honest and sincere, but also to have fun. That is essential to keep the cultural values alive."

Translating the values in the compass into behavior

Otto Buurman has been working at HSO since August 2003. In his role as Enterprise Solution Architect, he helps develop solutions and design long-term roadmaps for customers. He has seen HSO grow from a small company to a global organization with thousands of employees.

How do you experience the culture at HSO? "For me, it is about how much passion you put into your work and how you connect with colleagues. The people who work here make the company's culture. It is important not to let certain things that make us HSO slip away."

What makes HSO HSO in your opinion? "The sense of community and the drive to bring things to a successful conclusion together. It is about the feeling of a close-knit club where everyone is willing to roll up their sleeves and tackle challenges together. These values are crucial, and this culture compass helps to maintain them, especially after our rapid growth."

How do you embody the core values? "I do this mostly implicitly, through how I behave and how I connect with the people around me. For me, it is about translating the values in the compass into behavior. It is the way you work, with respect and involvement - that is how I try to show people what is important."
